Training workers in hazardous substance safety is a legal duty set out in regulation 9 of the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 and per regulation 4.5 of Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017.

Workers who are tasked with the operation or management of an Industrial Refrigeration Plant must have an in-depth understanding of Refrigeration fundamentals, system components, the engineered ‘safety critical’ systems & legislated requirements that maintain control. Furthermore, they must also grasp the unique chemical properties which affect the behaviours of Anhydrous Ammonia when uncontrolled or during maintenance that trigger best practice prevention & preparedness strategies.

Upon successful completion of this assessment, you will have proven your knowledge of the core Ammonia safety principles to prevent serious Ammonia leaks and know what actions to take in the unlikely event of an emergency.
